Tim Eichenberg with Lobo Louie and Lobo LucyI’m Tim Eichenberg and I want to be your next State Treasurer. I’ve been active in the Democratic Party since I was elected Bernalillo County Treasurer at the age of 22 in 1974 (please don’t do the math). The State Treasurer is important to all of us. We need to thank James B. Lewis for restoring honesty and ethics to the office after several past treasurers abused their position. In addition to being the state’s fiscal agent with an office budget of 3.5 million dollars, the State Treasurer sits on the State Investment Council and is the custodian of both the PERA Fund and the Educational Retirement Fund. I grew up in Albuquerque, one of seven children, attended Albuquerque Public Schools and graduated from the University of New Mexico. My wife Sandra and I were married in 1980 and we have two adult children. I believe my past experience uniquely qualifies me for State Treasurer:

  • Elected Bernalillo County Treasurer – two terms (1974 & 1976)
  • Elected to the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority (1994 – present)
  • State Property Tax Director, State Tax and Revenue Department (appointed in 2004)
  • Elected to the State Senate (2008)
  • Currently Democratic Ward Chairman and a member of the State Central Committee

tim-mapI have managed multi-million dollar budgets of taxpayer monies and chaired the State’s Government Restructuring Committee (2010) and Revenue Stabilization and Tax Policy Committee (2011) as well as being the sponsor of the “The Government Conduct Act” which became law in 2011.

I am knowledgeable about the State Treasurer’s office, having served as Bernalillo County Treasurer, Chairman of the AMAFCA Board and as a State Senator. I have a reputation for fiscal responsibility.

Our current Treasurer has done an outstanding job, but has termed-out; we share the same core values of trust, respect and ethical behavior by elected officials. I am asking for your support and your vote. If you have any questions or want to help my campaign, I would welcome your call at 505-710-1305.
